How to turn on multi-factor authentication for Remote Desktop Access

  1. Open Control Panel and select "System and Security."

  2. Click on "Allow remote access."

  3. Select "Advanced settings" and go to "Network Level Authentication."

  4. Enable "Require user authentication for remote connections by using Network Level Authentication."

  5. In Remote Desktop Services Configuration, right-click on the RDP-Tcp connection, select Properties.

  6. In the Properties, select the "Security" tab.

  7. Change the "Authentication level" to "Network Level Authentication."

  8. In the Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration, right-click on the RDP-Tcp connection, select Properties.

  9. In the Properties, select the "Advanced" tab.

  10. Enable "Use two-factor authentication required for logon."

  11. Click OK to save changes.

  12. Restart the Remote Desktop Service for changes to take effect.
